Phillipa Gelland is a solicitor in the Litigation team at Law Lane Solicitors. She advises individuals and businesses in legal disputes, handling matters across housing, public, and civil litigation. Her background includes legal aid work, where she developed a direct approach to client communication: precise, accessible, and focused on making a complex process understandable to people dealing with the courts for the first time.

Phillipa qualified as a lawyer in New South Wales, Australia, in September 2022, and was admitted as a solicitor of England and Wales in January 2025. She holds a Bachelor of Laws LLB (Hons) and a Bachelor of International Relations from the Australian National University. She joined Law Lane Solicitors in May 2026.

Phillipa advises landlords, tenants and occupiers on disputes that have reached the courts or are heading that way: disrepair claims, possession proceedings, and other residential housing matters. Public Law Litigation

Phillipa has experience in public law litigation, including cases in which people challenge decisions made by public bodies. This requires both administrative law knowledge and command of civil procedure, and Phillipa brings both to this work.

Civil Litigation

The Litigation team handles the full range of civil matters that may go to court or are already in court. Phillipa’s caseload varies: she is equally comfortable advising on a contractual dispute as on a housing possession claim, and the variety of work is part of what she finds most engaging about the role.
